1. Sleep longer

Not everyone needs to sleep 8 hours per night, but if you are sleeping less than six then you are likely not doing yourself any good. By simply increasing the amount of time you spend asleep each night you can reduce your daytime tiredness.

2. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier

There is an old saying that says “an hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 hours sleep after midnight”. By going to sleep just 30 minutes earlier you are getting the same benefit as if you slept in 1 hour longer. So go to bed earlier.

3. Sleep less

Sleeping too much can actually cause you to feel tired in the morning. There is no ‘magic number’ for how long you should sleep. But chances are if you are sleeping more than 9-10 hours each day you are probably sleeping too much.

4. Get a good mattress

A bad mattress will cause your sleep to be interrupted and can lead to back pain, which deters sleep even further. Invest in a good mattress that supports your body and that is comfortable for you.

A memory foam mattress has proven to be a great solution for many people. If you can’t quite afford the entire mattress (or want to trial it) you can also get memory foam mattress toppers, which are much more affordable.

5. Get a good pillow

The same goes for a pillow. A bad pillow means you are more likely to wake up during the night and increases the chances that you will wake up with neck pain. This does not promote the ‘spring in your step’ you want to be creating when you wake up in the morning

If you are looking for a pillow that supports your head and neck try the Cloud Pillow. It uses memory foam to ensure the ultimate comfort and support.

6. Don’t drink water before bed

Drinking water before bed increases the chances you will have to wake up in the night to go to the bathroom. This interferes with your sleeping patterns and means you don’t get as good of a rest. Drink 2 glasses of water in the morning instead.

If you are waking up tired every day then you may need to begin exercising. Exercising (especially in the morning) helps to keep you healthy and leaves you feeling more energized during the days.
